Grind 55 grams of coffee. French press is meant to have a coarse grind, anything too fine will result in a sooty cup.
Make sure all your equipment is clean before adding coffee to the french press.
Pour 400 grams (roughly halfway up) of hot water heated to 205 degrees. Start your timer and let coffee bloom for one minute. Stir to agitate the coffee several times.
Add another 400 grams of water evenly to the top of the french press. Replace lid but do not press down the plunger just yet.
After 4 minutes begin slowly press down the plunger.
Pour and enjoy your french press immediately. The coffee will continue to brew and over extract if left standing.
